7 <br />1 Voting on the motion: <br />2 Aye: Sundland, Marks, Ranallo. <br />3 Nay: Enrooth, Makowske. <br />4 Motion carried. <br />5 REQUESTED PUBLIC APPEARANCE REGARDING CHARITABLE GAMBLING <br />6 Charitable Gamblina Ordinance to be Rewritten with Lease Constraints on <br />7 Pull Tab_Over'ation <br />0 <br />9 Proposal by Dan Kramer, President of the St. Anthony Sports Boosters and <br />10 Ken Girard of the St. Anthony Lions Club that the City Council amend <br />the existing Charitable Gambling Ordinance to allow charitable gambling <br />11 within the City; <br />12 <br />13 *that two licenses be issued to the coalition formed by the Sports <br />14 Boosters, the Lions Club, and the St. Anthony Chamber of Commerce to <br />15 operate charitable gambling at the two City liquor operations (the <br />'6 Stonehouse and Apache Wells bars); <br />17 *that a waiver of the 60 day state mandated waiting period be granted <br />18 to allow the charitable gambling to be operational by about December 1, <br />19 1988. <br />20 Documentation in Agenda Packet: <br />21 >copy of the presentation given orally by Mr. Kramer; <br />22 >preliminary projections of pull tab expenses and revenues; <br />23 >copy of the coalition's resolution establishing a Charitable <br />24 Gambling Committee with representation from all three organizations. <br />25 Mr. Kramer told the Mayor the preliminary projections included some of <br />26 the work already done to structure a budget which is also mandated by <br />27 state law. He also referred to the listing of projects for which the <br />28 various organizations had indicated they would be using their share of <br />29 the profits. <br />30 Staff Report: <br />31 The City Attorney indicated the state would issue the licenses for only <br />32 one year and that the City would be able to voice objections at each <br />3 annual renewal. <br />4 <br />35 <br />
