I evening. He said there would have to be very careful planning when it
? came to location, parking, traffic, etc. for the proposed band shell.
3 Councilmember Enrooth added that he was pleased to announce that the St.
4 Anthony Civic Orchestra was scheduled to play in the Roseville Park,
5 July 28th.
6 City Officials Invited to Participate in "Night Out"/Kick-off at NSP
7 Plaza, August 9th
8 Sundland indicated he would get further information regarding the above
9 to the other Councilmembers, but he recalled the invitation had included
10 bringing the City's proclamation to be posed with all the others in the
11 Plaza. The Mayor reported his company, U.S. West, had distributed
12 thousands of shriek alarms as a safety measure for everyone in the
13 company, men and women, which he perceived reflected the concern large
14 companies downtown have regarding recent parking ramp incidents.
15 Marks Gives His Perspective of John Rose From the Viewpoint of a
16 Political Opponent and Reports on Other Activities
17 The Councilmember recalled that during his campaign for the same
18 legislative seat as John, he had gone over Representative Rose's record
19 with a fine tooth comb and found very little to use against him when it
20 came to environmental, education, etc., issues. Marks said he perceived the large crowds
z5 at the funeral bore out what he had heard from other legislators, that
26 John Rose was one of the only a few legislators who served as a bridge
27 between opposing views of the Democrats and Republicans caucuses and
28 had been a "moderating influence on his own caucus."
29 Sundland affirmed that Representative Rose had always spoken very highly
30 about Councilmember Marks, saying the Councilmember had always
31 maintained a high level campaign against him, which the Mayor observed,
32 was not always true of all campaigns.
33 Marks reported the Youth Service Bureau fund raising was progressing
34 very successfully.
35 In reference to Councilmember Enrooth's report on the St. Anthony Civic
36 Orchestra in which he plays, the Councilmember indicated the Roseville
37 concert would be their last this season and had been preceded by very
38 well attended concerts at both the Lake Harriet Pavilion and Walker
39 Center. The Councilmember also noted that Councilmember Makowske's
40 son, Chris, was now playing with the orchestra.
41 Makowske Commends Staff for a "Super Job" on the July Newsletter
42 The Councilmember indicated she was proud to have the City's message
A3 to its residents going out now. Childs agreed that staff had done an
16
