CITY OF ST. ANTHONY
COUNCIL MINUTES
March 23, 1976
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Miedtke at 7:35 P.M.
Present for roll call: Sundland, Haik, Miedtke, Stauffer, Sauer.
Also present: Jerry Dulgar, City Manager
Jim Fornell, Adm. Asst.
Larry Vickrey, (dismissed because no need for legal services)
The minutes of the March 9th Council meeting were corrected as follows:
Page 6, para: 3: Correct the motion to waive the smoking ordinance for
only "the remainder of this meeting" and to indicate
that Councilman Stauffer voted "aye" for the waiver
and did not abstain.
Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Sundland to approve the
minutes for the March 9, 1976 Council meeting as corrected.
Motion carried unanimously.
The minutes of the Human Relations Committee meeting February 17, 1976 were filed.
Ken Hiebel, representative of the Planning Board, discussed the minutes and action
taken during the meeting of the Board on March 16, 1976. He told the Council of
the proposal made by the Schroeder Milk Company to replace their Jiffy Market
at the corner of Stinson Boulevard and 34th Avenue M.E. with a new Speedy Market
and two self-service gas pumps with the responsiblity for the latter given to the
Western Oil Company.
Mr. Hiebel said the proposal seemed to be in compliance with both the existing
and proposed zoning ordinance but relayed the reservations the Board had towards
another gas dispensing operation on that corner.
Councilman Sauer wanted a ruling on the question raised by Mr. Letourneau whether
the zoning ordinance allowed two business enterprises on property for which the
zoning had been established for only one business.
Because no one was present to represent the Schroeder Milk Company the Council
made the following motion:
Motion by Councilman Sundland, seconded by Councilman Sauer to table action on
the request from the Schroeder Milk Company for a building permit to erect a new
Speedy Market and two self service gas pumps on their property at the corner of
Stinson Boulevard and 33rd Avenue N.E.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Mayor then requested the Manager to inform the four interested residents of
the area who had indicated an interest in speaking to the matter of any further
meetings at which the request would again be discussed.
