CITY OF ST. AMTHONY <br />COUNCIL MINUTES <br />April 13,1976 <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Miedtke at 7:35 P.M. <br />Present for roll call: Sauer, Stauffer and Miedtke <br />Absent: Sundland and Haik <br />Also present: Jerry Dulgar, City Manager <br />Jim Forneli, Adm. Asst. <br />The minutes of the March 23rd Council meeting were corrected as follo <br />Page 2, para. 2: Insert "bills" for ".....bids which might be outstanding" <br />para. 5: Substitute "asked" for "instructed" Councilman Haik to <br />facilitate....." <br />Page 3, para. 7: "17,000" should be "$17,000" <br />Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to approve the <br />March 23, 1976 minutes as corrected. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Motion by Councilman Stauffer, seconded by Councilman Sauer to approve payment <br />of $2,500 to the St. Anthony High School Marching Band for their Hawaiian trip as <br />a payment for their cleanup efforts in the city on April 3rd. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Motion by Councilman Sauer, seconded by Councilman Stauffer to substitute "30 <br />minute parking" for the existing "no parking" restrictions for the north side of <br />33rd Avenue N.E. for 300 feet east of Silver Lake Road so that residents may more <br />easily conduct business at City Hall. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mrs. Florence Marks, accompanied by several members of her Girl Scout Troop 1586 <br />told the Council of their investigations of the old St. Anthony cemetery north <br />of 2s+.n Avenue N.E. on Stinson Boulevard. She said rubbings made by the girls had <br />rev L... that one of the gravemarkers was for Elizabeth Stone who was buried on <br />July 14, 1853 and further investigations led to the belief that other burials had <br />been made in the same area even a few years earlier. Mrs. Marks also said Fir. <br />Henry Jenniges, an early resident of the City had supplied more background history <br />on the cemetery including the fact that when Stinson Boulevard was constructed in <br />the 30's there were many human bones unearthed and reburied in the cemetery. <br />Councilman Haik arrived at 7:40 P.M. <br />Mrs. Marks said that though Hennepin County has no actual record of the existence <br />of the cemetery, the Hennepin County Historical Society had indicated an interest <br />in establishing the cemetery as a historical landmark, believing that it is the <br />oldest cemetery in the county. They will provide certification if the City will <br />
