31 1 CITY OF ST. ANTHONY 2 CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 3 OCTOBER 28, 2014 4 5 CALL TO ORDER. 6 7 Mayor Faust called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. 8 9 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. 10 1 I Mayor Faust invited the Council and audience to join him in the Pledge of Allegiance. 12 13 ROLL CALL. 14 15 Present: Mayor Faust; Councilmembers Gray, Jenson, Roth, and Stille. 16 Absent: None. 17 Also Present: City Manager Mark Casey. 18 Guests: Senator John Marty and Mike Bradley (representing North Suburban 19 Communications Commission). 20 21 CONSIDERATION, DISCUSSION, AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON ALL OF THE FOLLOWING 22 ITEMS. 23 24 I. APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 28, 2014, CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA. 25 26 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to approve the City 27 Council Meeting Agenda of October 28, 2014. 28 29 Motion carried unanimously. 30 31 II. PROCLAMATIONS AND RECOGNITIONS. 32 33 A. Presentation from Senator John Marty. 34 35 Senator Marty stated that the recently enacted Organized Collection Statute is intended to reduce 36 wear and tear on streets as well as to reduce expenses for the haulers and he felt that residents 37 would be getting better service at a lower cost. He thanked the City for approving the agreement 38 and congratulated the City for being the first city in the State to make it happen. 39 40 Councilmember Stille stated the City formed a task force in 2008 to consider organized 41 collection and at the time, decided the community was not ready for organized collection and the 42 City Council set the matter aside and placed it on its list of annual goals for further consideration 43 at the right time. He thanked Senator Marty for spearheading the legislation. 44 45 Mayor Faust commended Senator Marty for his efforts as the chief author of the organized 46 collection legislation and extended the City Council's thanks. 47 48 III.
