Information sheets outlining the Smoke Alarm Requirements for Residential <br />2 Occupancies and Smoke Alarms in U.S. Home Fires Fact sheet were provided to the Council. <br />3 Mattie Jaros gave an example of a smoke alarm sound. All residents are invited to attend the Fire <br />4 Department Open House that will be October 3s' from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. New this year, the <br />5 Village Big Rigs will be in the south parking lot. There will be a lot of fire and safety messages <br />6 for the kids and the adults will have blood pressure checks as well. Information about the Open <br />7 House has been distributed in the schools and they are hoping to see a lot of families attend. <br />9 Mayor Faust noted when homes are being remodeled, smoke detectors and CO detectors are <br />10 checked to make sure they are properly installed during the home inspection per State Statute. He <br />11 asked when a home is sold is there any inspection done. Chris Fuller stated if a home inspection <br />12 is done it will be brought up but it is the law that every home have smoke detectors. The Fire <br />13 Department is relying on everyone's good faith and their desire to be safe. <br />14 <br />15 Councilmember Jenson asked if the Open House will be advertised on the marque in front of <br />16 City Hall. Mr. Casey stated it would be. <br />17 <br />18 Chris Fuller stated they have great attendance every year and go through 500 hotdogs. Maddie <br />19 Jaros stated they have increased the hotdog count this year so hopefully they are prepared. <br />20 <br />21 Mayor Faust thanked the Fire Department for the work they do and their outreach to the <br />22 community. They practice what they preach when you cant' along with you those extra smoke <br />23 detectors that are loaned to residents needing them. Mayor Faust noted they are diligent to get <br />24 the loaned smoke detectors returned within a reasonable time. <br />25 <br />26 B. Ordinance 2015 -05 an ordinance Amending Mayor and City Councilmembers Salaries <br />27 Wd of 3 readings) <br />28 <br />29 Mayor Faust reviewed this ordinance amendment would increase the monthly salary for the <br />30 Mayor and Councilmember's by $50.00 per month. To comply with Minnesota State Law, this <br />31 ordinance will take effect January 1, 2016. The Mayor's salary will be increased from $675 to <br />32 $725 /month, the Mayor Pro tem's salary will be increased from $613 to $663 /month, and the <br />33 Councilmembers' salary will be increased from $550 to $600 per month. For historical purposes, <br />34 the last time this ordinance was amended was three years ago in 2012. This is the second <br />35 reading of this ordinance amendment. Mayor Faust stated this is the only compensation the <br />36 Council receives. He stated it's not enough to pay the Council for what they do but it's enough of <br />37 a stipend. <br />38 <br />39 Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Breyer, to approve Second <br />40 Reading of Ordinance 2015 -05 an Ordinance Amending Mayor and City Councilmembers <br />41 Salaries. <br />42 <br />43 Motion carried unanimously <br />44 <br />45 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. <br />46 <br />47 Mr. Casey stated the Village Big Rigs is a new program for this year.
