Childs : I have carefully considered the question of whether or not I should submit an application for appointment as the city attorney for criminal prosecution work . As I have indicated to you in the past, it is important to me that the job be properly performed and that both the City of St. Anthony and my firm be pleased with the relationship. I have decided that I am willing to devote the time and energy necessary to perform efficient and effective prosecutorial services . I would, therefore , like to be considered for appointment to the prosecution portion of the city attorney task in 1983 . I have practiced law in the City of St. Anthony for over thirteen years and have a substantial amount of experience in misdemeanor criminal cases . It is my intention to either personally perform the criminal prosecutions or to closely supervise an associate who would be hired on a long-term basis for that task , and who would have appropriate skill and experience in criminal prosecutions . It is my belief that the City of St. Anthony would benefit by obtaining these services from a local attorney readily available to the city council , police department and city employees , and would benefit by a close line of communication with the city attorney. I feel that my proximity to the city and my awareness of the city, its people and organizations , would be of substan- tial benefit in providing these legal services . It is my inten- tion to provide the council with monthly reports on prosecution activity.
