Joint Response' Hazardous .Materials Operations Committee <br /> Minutes of January 14, 1987=Meeting in Fridley- , <br /> Chairman -McKusick called the meeting to• order at 7:30 p.m. : <br /> Chuck outlined the format for the meeting and. the committee' s work in <br /> development of the Hazardous Materials Response Unit. There. was a.,discussion <br /> of the -film •that the Fridley Fire Department had prepared on' the State <br /> Hazardous Materials Response Unit, and the committee members. were advised that ., <br /> a copy of this is available if they choose to view. it. <br /> Chuck introduced Tom Alcorn of the State Hazardous Materials Response Unit, <br /> and Tom gave a brief discussion of the status of the State truck and trailer. <br /> He offered, his assistance in development of our particular unit and provided <br /> lists of cleanup contractors who are presently on file with the State of <br /> Minnesota. <br /> Howard Simonson discussed the decontamination trailer in operation at Pueblo, <br /> Colorado that he and Larry Hamer had .a chance to view, and it was decided at <br /> this time that any further discussion on a trailer would not take place until <br /> completion of the Hazardous Materials Response Unit. <br /> Bob Aldrich discussed the contract and asked that the cities all present their <br /> • contracts to their city councils for formal approval so that we can continue <br /> to work with this project. <br /> Chuck McKusick then suggested that we talk about target and time frames for <br /> the subcommittees to work with, and there followed a discussion of the five <br /> areas of development. The committees and subgroups selected are as follows: <br /> Group 1 will work with the interior, and it will include Dean Murray of Coon <br /> Rapids Fire Department and Jay Olson of St. <br /> Anthony Fire Department. Group 2, <br /> which will deal with the exterio®gn and look of the truck, is comprised <br /> of Brad Matti of Spring Lake Park and Dennis Ottem of Fridley. Group 3, which <br /> will work personal protective gear and equipment, will include Dick Mowan of <br /> Coon Rapids, Howard Simonson of Fridley and Matt Field of Columbia Heights. <br /> Group 4 has the responsibility of the hazarldous materials eguj2Ment in <br /> tr� uc_, and that will include John Berg of Columbia Heights, Bill Meyers of St. <br /> Ant ony and Dick Larson of Fridley. - Group 5 will .work with Eraining standards <br /> and development of any SOP's that are necessary For opera ion o e trucK, <br /> and that will include Chuck Schiemo of Coon Rapids, Jim ZZ iaQf St Anthony <br /> and Kevin Vito of Spring Lake Park with Francis Doll of Spring Lake Park <br /> alternating with Kevin. <br /> The group -objectives-then were set as to what responsibilities each group <br /> would have. Group 1 will -have the responsibility for the total .interior of <br /> : the• truck- from the windshield to the back. Group- 2 will .have the <br /> responsibility for the total look. That will include -lights, color, logo, <br /> name, -anything that would- be on the--outside , of:.-the. truck. Group 3 's <br /> objectives will be to come-up with satisfactory lists of personal protective . <br /> • gear and equipment. Group 4 will develop the materials list and equipment <br /> list,that Twill be carried inside the truck. Group 5 will work with training <br />
