I have also provided copies of the current issue of the CLEAN UP Reporter that will give you and the members of the board the extent of our involvement, not only with community groups in the Twin Cities metro area, but also with local government. The overwhelming support of this type of legislation has led Carrie Orth, Executive Director of the Minnesota Civil Liberties Union to say in a March 10 Star/Tribune article that "it's real popular to be against pornography right now:' She's right, and it's about time. There is no question that citizens of Minnesota are eager to have obscenity law violations vigorously investigated and prosecuted. Top law enforcement officers in our area, such as U.S. Attorney Jerome Arnold and Minnesota Attorney General Skip Humphrey have promised full support, not only in investigation and enforcement of these laws, but also in helping to train investigators and prosecutors. I earnestly urge city managers in the Twin Cities to play an active, rather than a reactive, role in obscenity law enforcement. Mayors, city managers, city council members, chiefs of police, and city attorneys will be hearing from citizens in their communities asking them to vigorously enforce these laws. I would be pleased to be available in assisting city managers in understanding anti-pornography dynamic in our country, state and community. Sincerely, Robert P.
