Lauren McClanahan was concerned with the 90 gallon containers which • were indicated in the proposals. Elaine Olson commented that she was under the impression that Reuters was not being considered for St. Anthony. Dick Enrooth explained that when we were leaving Reuters, they had asked if they could submit a proposal. Mr. Enrooth said that would be acceptable if they had the proposal submitted before the July 18th meeting. All of the proposals were compared and studied. The Task Force determined that Waste Management would be recommended to the Council because: I *It is already in operation in the City and has an excellent reputation; *The proposal is the most beneficial to the City. Waste Management will therefore be recommended to the City Council at their August 9, 1988 meeting. Questions that were asked Waste Management: >Could a two year contract be instituted instead of a 5 year • contract? Waste Management buys equipment, such as solid waste containers, and recycling containers., and then they write off their equip- ment in five years. Yes, they could present a shorter contract, but the price would have to change to meet the equipment write off. . >Can Waste Management supply 60 gallon containers if people want them, rather than the 90 gallon containers? Yes, the City would need to tell them how many and they would order them. >Can the City get the solid waste containers and recycling containers sooner than _60 or 90 days? Waste Management believes they can get the containers within a month from when the contract starts or soon thereafter. Mr. Enrooth and Mr. Hamer will draft a synopsis of the findings of the Task Force and the recommendations.
