• MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: August 5, 1988 <br /> TO: Mayor and Councilmembers <br /> FROM: Richard Buendorf <br /> ITEM: PHONE SYSTEM (CITY HALL/POLICE, FIRE AND PUBLIC WORKS) <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The phone system which is currently installed in the Fire, City <br /> Hall/Police, and Public Works Departments is based on 1930 <br /> technology. Although having multiple functions such as call hold, <br /> intercom (with hand set only) and multiple line (excluding Public <br /> Works) , many other common features which maximize productivity are <br /> absent. One of these absent features, and a major one, would allow <br /> for the transfer of calls from City Hall to the Fire or Public <br /> Works Departments. <br /> PRESENT COKKUNICATION ANALYSIS <br /> Administration Office: 4 Administrative Lines; 1 Police Line; <br /> and 1 Criminal Justice <br /> • Fire: 2 Lines <br /> Public Works: 1 Line <br /> Water Plant: 1 Line <br /> Emerald Park: 1 Line <br /> Silver Point Park (pay phone) : 1 Line <br /> Miscellaneous Equipment <br /> PROPOSAL <br /> Administration Office <br /> >Combine the 4 administration lines with the Police Department <br /> line, and have all calls answered at the main locations. <br /> >Add the Caroline system to the lines for the capability to <br /> transfer calls to the Fire Department and Public Works. <br /> • <br />
