MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: November 22 , 1989 <br /> TO: Tom Burt, City Manager <br /> FROM: Sue VanderHeyden, Assistant to the City Manager <br /> ITEM: WEEKLY REPORT <br /> 1 . Budget <br /> The 1990 budget has been put together and will be finalized <br /> once it is approved by the Council. The budget hearing has <br /> been rescheduled from November 28, 1989 to the City Council <br /> meeting on December 12 , 1989 . <br /> This change is necessary due to the budget hearing notice <br /> requirements of Truth in Taxation. The City is required to <br /> place the notice of hearing in the Thursday Community Section <br /> of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, however, this section has <br /> been full, so a number of cities are being forced to change <br /> their respective hearing dates. As stated before, the 1990 <br /> budget public hearing is Tuesday, December 12, 1989, at 8:00 <br /> P.M. <br /> 2. Recycling <br /> A. I met with Councilmember Enrooth concerning recycling and <br /> future programs we want to pursue, such as "how to <br /> compost" booklets, different flyers, and a recycling <br /> lottery. <br /> B. The recycling bins will be delivered by November 30th. <br /> We will inform residents through use of the Kiwanis sign <br /> at the Fire Station when the containers become available. <br /> In addition, an informational flyer is being prepared for <br /> distribution with the containers with general information <br /> concerning the recycling program. <br /> C. Rehrig Pacific Company (manufacturer of the containers) <br /> informed me that lids for the containers we've ordered <br /> will be available in March. The company is currently <br /> testing different molds to develop the most efficient <br /> lid. The lids will be approximately $2.00 each, or <br /> $5,000 for all 2 ,500 containers. There will be funds <br /> available to purchase the bids once we receive <br /> reimbursement money from Hennepin County. <br /> D. I have requested from Ramsey County, the amounts that <br /> have been taxed to our residents for recycling. Once I <br />
