2
receive this information, I will be contacting
Commissioner Salverda.
E. A number of residents have expressed their wish that the
recycling.center remain open. I have discussed this with
Waste Management and they intend, for the time being, to
continue as we are now.
However, Waste Management representatives also feel that
the City is not going to need the drop-off center once
curbside recycling is underway or that a scaled down
version would be sufficient.
F. Hennepin County has introduced a resolution concerning
the composting of yard waste in 1990. The resolution
states that each municipality must identify a compost
site within the City to be eligible for Hennepin County
recycling reimbursement. I will be attending a November
30th meeting to discuss this issue.
G. Hennepin County is starting a button battery collection
program for recycling in January of 1990. Button
batteries are those found in hearing aids, cameras,
watches, and calculators.
3 . I have asked them to direct a letter of interest to
my attention.
5. Resolution -89-030 concerns the fees the League of Minnesota
Cities charges the League Insurance Trust (LMCIT) for various
services. Included is* an informational memo from Millie
MacLeod, League President.
6. The City of St. Anthony employees raised $1 ,996.00 for the
United Way Fund. Judy. Monson did a great job of coordinating
the St. Anthony campaign this year!
7.
