Deadlines <br /> When a request is made of me, or by me, I prefer to <br /> establish a deadline -- preferably by mutual consent. <br /> I try to honor my deadlines, and I would expect the same <br /> in return. Because some deadlines can't be met, it <br /> should be noted as early as possible with more realistic <br /> deadlines suggested so that any other necessary <br /> adjustments can be made. <br /> 5. Council Communications <br /> It is important that the City Manager as Chief <br /> Administrative Office, be aware of various concerns <br /> within the community and the City Council. This enables <br /> me to better represent you to the City Council and also <br /> helps to promote efficient operations and relieves staff <br /> members from "pressure, " either real or imagined. <br /> 6 . Public Service <br /> 'I take pride in working- in the public service and I try <br /> to convey that pride through my. work. I want others in <br /> the organization to feel the same way and to convey that <br /> feeling to the public. This means we must be responsive, <br /> helpful, and courteous at all times. If someone says <br /> they have a problem, no matter how inconsequential it <br /> may seem to us, we must deal with it as if it were the <br /> only problem we had to work on at the time. This doesn't <br /> mean that efficiency should be abandoned, -it merely means <br /> that we must have respect for citizens. <br /> 7 . Open Door <br /> My- door is open for any problems, questions, or concerns <br /> you have. We can only function as a team if you respect <br /> my ability to listen and deal with you in a straight <br /> forward, honest fashion. We may not always agree, but <br /> you will never have to worry about talking to me about <br /> something that's on your mind. <br /> CONCLUSION <br /> I am proud to be a part of .your organization and will work hard so <br /> we all feel comfortable when we say "our" organization. I believe <br /> that if we commit ourselves to an open, goal-oriented approach to <br /> management, that we can foster a good working relationship and <br /> maintain a strong community. <br /> TDB:cjk <br />
