MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: November 17 , 1989 <br /> TO: Tom Burt, City Manager <br /> FROM: Larry Hamer, Public Works Director <br /> ITEM: PUBLIC WORKS WEEKLY REPORT - WEEK OF NOVEMBER 13, 1989 <br /> 1. Submitted the monthly progress report for the City's activity <br /> on the carbon filter plant to the MPCA. <br /> 2. The Foss . Road lift station pump failed again. We have not <br /> been able to operate the pumps for more than three <br /> consecutive weeks . I called a meeting with the contractor <br /> and sub-contractors to let them know our dissatisfaction in <br /> what has happened. The meeting will be held on November 17th. <br /> I intend to tell them that no one will get paid until the pump <br /> is working to the City's satisfaction and that the liquidated <br /> damages will continue. <br /> 3 . The lift station stopped working and a sewage spill resulted. <br /> It .lasted for about three hours and was reported to the MPCA. <br /> 4. The City has received a request from 2815 Silver Lake Road to <br /> install a private gate in the park fence at Silver Point Park. <br /> I wrote to the resident informing them of the City's concerns, <br /> that they would have to pay for the fence and that safety was <br /> their -responsibility. Also, if they do construct the gate, <br /> that they must use the same materials as the fence. <br /> 5. The snow plow equipment is ready. <br /> 6. The annual weed report to Ramsey County was completed and <br /> mailed. <br /> 7. Community Services interviewed me as to how I perceived the <br /> program in relation to the use of the parks and facilities. <br /> 8. The City took bids for the media replacement, sandblasting <br /> repair and repainting of the iron filters (2) . I had <br /> estimated the cost to be about $54 ,000. The low bid was <br /> $49,400 submitted by Layne Minnesota. <br /> 9. The largest building of the Autumn Woods complex was given its <br /> final inspection for full occupancy. There are approximately <br /> 15 units rented at this time. <br /> 10. The City was not informed until I did the plumbing inspection <br /> that the newly constructed house at 3512 Silver Lake Road is <br />
