MEMORIAL SIGNS: Memorial signs or tablets, or names of buildings <br /> and date of erection when cut into masonry surface or constructed of metal or stone <br /> and attached to the building, not exceeding a sign surface area of 4 square feet. <br /> Subd. 5. IDENTIFICATION SIGNS: One identification sign per residential <br /> dwelling unit, which shall not exceed a sign surface area of 4 square feet per surface <br /> and shall have no more than two sign surfaces, and one address sign on the curb in <br /> front of each dwelling unit. <br /> Subd. 6. FREESTANDING SIGNS: Freestanding signs for garage sales or <br /> similar event occurring within the corporate limits of the City, not exceeding 4 square <br /> feet in sign surface area, erected on private property with permission of the land <br /> owner, and displayed for not more than 3 consecutive days. <br /> Subd. 7. WINDOW SIGNS: Temporary or permanent window signs duly <br /> authorized by zoning and other laws of this City, provided that all such signs on a <br /> frontage shall not have a total sign surface area greater than 50% of the-glass area, <br /> excluding doors, on such frontage and provided that a minimum of one-half of the <br /> open window space must be below a horizontal line which is 5 feet above the interior <br /> floor of the commercial establishment. Merchandise displays in windows shall not be • <br /> considered a part of the sign area if such display is not intended to be continued for <br /> a period of more than 8 weeks. <br /> Subd. 8. ON-SITE TEMPORARY SUBDIVISION SIGNS: One on-site temporary <br /> sign advertising a group of lots for sale within a subdivision or group of houses for <br /> sale within a housing project, provided that the total area of such sign shall not <br /> exceed 64 square feet with no single dimension in excess of 16 feet. The display of <br /> such sign shall be limited to a 6-month period. At the expiration of such period, the <br /> applicant may request a further extension of time, otherwise the sign must be <br /> removed. <br /> Subd. 9. TEMPORARY SIGNS, OTHER THAN POLITICAL SIGNS: Temporary <br /> signs, other than political signs, pertaining to drives or events of civic, philanthropic, <br /> educational or religious organizations, provided permission of the City Manager must <br /> be obtained to erect such signs upon or over public property and provided further <br /> that such signs shall not be erected or posted for a period of more than 14 days prior <br /> to the date of the event and must be removed within 3 days after the event. If prior <br /> permission is not obtained from the City Manager, the sign shall be removed <br /> immediately. <br /> Subd. 11.
