1400.11 WALL SIGNS: The sign surface area of a wall sign may not exceed 15% of the <br /> area of the wall to which it is applied. <br /> 1400.12 DISTRICT SCHEDULES: Signs shall be permitted as set forth in the following <br /> provisions: <br /> Subd. 1. RESIDENTIAL: The following signs are permitted in a residential district: <br /> (1) R-1, R-1A & R-2: One identification sign per dwelling unit per right- <br /> of-way frontage. Additionally one address sign on the curb in front of <br /> each dwelling unit or on a freestanding mailbox. <br /> (2) R-3 & R-4: Each multiple dwelling complex (nine or more units) will <br /> be allowed one monument sign identifying the complex. The sign may <br /> not exceed 50 square feet in sign surface area. The sign structure <br /> including the sign surface area, may not exceed 150 square feet in area. <br /> The highest point of the sign may not be more than 10 feet above <br /> ground level. <br /> (3) Each church located within the corporate limits of this City, subject to <br /> approval of size, location and type by the City Manager, may erect and <br /> maintain a maximum of three directional signs on municipal rights-of- <br /> way. No church may erect or maintain more than one such sign at any <br /> intersection. <br /> Subd. 2. COMMERCIAL AND LIMITED BUSINESS: The following signs are <br /> allowed in a 'B" Service Office Limited Business District and "C" Commercial <br /> Districts and may be erected after obtaining a permit and paying a required-license <br /> fee. <br /> (1) One identification sign per commercial establishment. The sign may <br /> have no more than 2 square feet of surface area per lineal foot of <br /> business footage, up to a maximum of 150 square feet. The total area <br /> of all wall signs affixed to a wall may-not exceed 15% of the total area <br /> of the wall. <br /> (2) A gasoline station will be allowed, in addition to all other authorized <br /> signs, one pylon sign to identify the gasoline brand. This sign may not <br /> exceed 30 feet in height, and must have a minimum clearance of 12 <br /> feet from the basic grade level to the lowest element of the sign <br /> surface and may not exceed 150 square feet, including both sides, in <br /> sign surface area. Such an establishment will also be allowed one price <br /> sign, not to exceed 8 square feet in sign surface area, for each frontage <br /> having a curb cut. Such freestanding sign and price signs will be in <br /> addition to those signs allowed in Part A of this Subdivision. <br />
