W A stove and refrigerator properly installed for safe, sanitary and <br /> efficient operation to be provided by the owner and occupant. <br /> Subd. 2 Toilet Facilities. A separate room equipped with a flush toilet in <br /> -good working condition, with easily cleanable surfaces, connected to an <br /> approved and adequate water system and connected to an approved sewer <br /> system. In a rental dwelling unit, such room must have an entrance door <br /> which affords privacy. <br /> Subd 3. Lavatory Sink. A lavatory sink, either in the same room as the toilet <br /> or in close proximity to the door leading directly into the toilet room, <br /> connected to an approved water supply system and providing an adequate <br /> amount of heated and unheated running water under pressure, and <br /> connected to an approved sewer system. <br /> Subd. 4. Bathtub or Shower. A nonhabitable room equipped with a bathtub <br /> or shower in good working condition, connected to an approved water supply <br /> system and providing adequate heated and unheated water under pressure, <br /> and connected to an approved sewer system.. In a rental dwelling unit, the <br /> room must have an entrance door which affords privacy. <br /> Subd. 5. Stairways. Porches and Balconies. Stairways, inside or outside, kept <br /> in safe condition, sound- repair and in compliance with the Uniform . <br /> Building Code. Every flight of stairs and every porch and balcony floor must <br /> be free of deterioration. Every handrail and balustrade must be firmly <br /> fastened and maintained in good condition. Except for spiral and winding <br /> stairways, the treads and risers of every flight of:stairs must be uniform in <br /> width and height. <br /> Subd. 6. Access. Access without passing through any other dwelling unit. <br /> Subd. 7. Locks and Security. Exterior doors equipped with safe, functioning <br /> locking devices equipped with a dead-locking bolt that cannot be retracted by <br /> end pressure, openable from the inside without the use of a key or any special <br /> knowledge or effect. Apartment buildings must also include: <br /> (a) Security Systems. An approved security system to control access, <br /> consisting of locked building entrance or foyer doors, and locked doors <br /> leading from hallways into individual units, dead-latch locks with <br /> lever knobs (or door knobs) on the inside of building entrance doors <br /> and key cylinders on the outside of building entrance doors, with <br /> building entrance door latches of a type permanently locked from the <br /> outside and permanently unlocked from the inside. <br /> -9- <br />
