(b) Unit Door Locks. Rental unit doors must have a dead-locking bolt that <br /> cannot be retracted by end pressure, openable from the inside without <br /> the use of a key or any special knowledge or effect. <br /> Subd. 8. SumTy Pumps. Sump pumps which are not connected to the sanitary <br /> sewer. Prior to the closing of the sale of a dwelling, the seller shall request <br /> that the sump pumps and drain tile must be inspected by the City visually <br /> and/or by smoking to ensure that they are not connected in any manner to <br /> the sanitary sewer system. If the Compliance Officer determines the sump <br /> pump or drain tile is connected to the sanitary sewer system, the situation <br /> must be corrected before the dwelling unit is considered in compliance to be <br /> sold. <br /> Subd. 9. Manual and Automatic Check Valves. Check valves if necessary to <br /> prevent sewer back-flow. Prior to the closing of the sale of a sale of a <br /> dwelling,'the seller shall request that-a sanitary sewer line to the main street <br /> line be inspected for manual and automatic check valves. If the Compliance <br /> Officer determines that both manual and automatic check valves are <br /> necessary to prevent back-flow, the situation must be corrected before the <br /> dwelling is considered'in compliance to be sold. <br /> Subd. 10. Fire Safety Equipment. Fire safety equipment, such as fire <br /> extinguishers, smoke alarms and other equipment, as required by State Fire <br /> Code. <br /> Section 355:75 Light and Ventilation. No person may occupy, or let to another for <br /> occupancy, any dwelling or dwelling unit, which does not comply with the <br /> following: <br /> Subd. 1. Habitable Room Ventilation. Except where other ventilation <br /> approved by the Compliance Official is provided, every habitable room must <br /> have at least one window facing directly outdoors which can be opened easily, <br /> must comply-with minimum standards in the Uniform Building Code..- <br /> Subd. 2. Nonhabitable Room Ventilation. Every bathroom, toilet room, <br /> laundry room and utility room must contain at least 50% of the ventilation <br /> requirement for habitable rooms. <br /> Subd. 3. Electric Service, Outlets and Fixtures. Public and common areas <br /> must be supplied with electric service, functioning over current protection <br /> devices, and electric outlets and fixtures, properly installed, maintained in <br /> good and safe working condition, and connected to a source of electric power, <br /> -10- <br />
