City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> May 23, 2000 <br /> Page 2 <br /> 1 Cavanaugh clarified that the items removed dealt with insurance and the potential rewording of <br /> 2 Resolution 00-034. <br /> 3 In that respect, Mayor Cavanaugh invited Mr. Carl Bennetsen of Youngdahl Companies to ad- <br /> o dress the Council. Mr. Bennetsen reviewed Resolution 00-034 and the appropriate changes in <br /> 5 language. <br /> 6 Motion by Thuesen to approve Resolution 00-034, a Resolution Regarding Waiver on Tort <br /> 7 Liability Limits for LMCIT Insurance Program, with the following changes: <br /> 8 Paragraph 2: <br /> 9 WHEREAS, the City has elected to purchase [delete "umbrella"]liability coverage in <br /> 10 the amount of$1,000,000, which is [delete "in excess of']the statutory limits on tort <br /> 11 liability as set forth in MN Statutes 466.04. <br /> 12 Last Paragraph: <br /> 013 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the City Council of the City of St. <br /> 14 Anthony hereby approves the waiving of the monetary limits on tort liability established <br /> 15 by MN Statutes 466.04,to the extent of the limits of[delete "the excess"]liability <br /> 4 <br /> 16 coverage obtained from LMCIT for the policy period from June 1, 2000 to May 21, 2002. <br /> 17 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 18 Cavanaugh inquired about the increased cost of the insurance coverage,.and directed City Man- <br /> 19 ager Michael Morrison to prepare a memo, which would explain the types and causes of injuries <br /> 20 that have occurred and resulted in workmens compensation claims. Additionally, Cavanaugh <br /> 21 confirmed with Morrison that the City utilizes an organized Safety Committee. <br /> 22. Morrison directed the Council's attention to pages.16-20 of the agenda packages wherein the <br /> 23 League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Renewal was discussed. Morrison reminded the Council <br /> 24 that a motion needed to be made in order to renew coverage. <br /> 25 After a brief question and answer discussion between the Council and Mr. Bennetsen, it was de- <br /> 26 cided to renew the coverage. <br /> 27 Motion by Horst to approve the insurance renewal for the Year 2000-2001. <br /> 8 <br /> 29 Motion carried unanimously. <br />
