Community Need/Slapport <br /> St .Anthony Village is a first-ring suburb located just east of <br /> northeast Minneapolis, straddling the border of Hennepin and <br /> Ramsey Counties . It is a small city of 2 . 35square miles, <br /> surrounded by larger ones . Roseville lies directly to the east, <br /> New Brighton to the northeast, and Columbia Heights to the <br /> northwest . No major highways cross the City, except for Trunk Hwy <br /> 36, which cuts across the southeast corner. The community is <br /> going through population shifts as the " first generation" of <br /> homeowners are aging and choosing to remain in the City but are <br /> moving to townhouses, condominiums and apartments . The <br /> single-family homes are now occupied by a new generation of young <br /> adults starting new families . Female headed single parent homes <br /> have increased. There is a decline in income due to the <br /> population aging, since seniors are frequently on fixed incomes . <br /> Among the population 25+, 87% are high school graduates and 31% <br /> have a bachelor' s degree or higher. St .Anthony retains a high <br /> jobs-to-residents ratio: 85 jobs per 100"working age" residents <br /> while Columbia Heights has fower jobs but, Roseville has one and <br /> a half jobs per working age resident . <br /> Demographics: Population 325, 178 : White75o Blackl3o Hispanic 30 <br /> Other 2% <br /> Average Income $53, 717 :above poverty 84% below poverty 160 <br /> M-a-1-e- 49% Female 51% Marries 62% Male heads 6% Female hems- 32% <br /> 0-17 22% 18-34 28% 35-64 360 65+ 14 <br /> In-kind support by printed word has been given by The SSt.Anthony <br /> Bulletin, Jason King editor, The Northeastern Newspaper. The <br /> Focus Newspaper, Community Services, and the City of St . Anthony. <br /> Articles and pictures appeared in their publications . CTV Channel <br /> 15 presented two one hour shows using videos information and <br /> community residents . Attorney, Tom Brever, provided legal help to <br /> obtain not-for-profit and 501 (C) 3 status at no cost to the <br /> organization. Charles Hockert, CPA, advises on all financial and <br /> tax matters . Ellin Lindee and Shelia Gallaaher are advisors on <br /> presenters and concert series organization and carryout . Donation <br /> support of the introductory concert was given by Hilltop Trailer <br /> Sales, Tri-City American Legion, A.C.T. I .O.N and St .Anthony <br /> Sports Boosters . <br /> III .
