d l� ills Fire Department 2900 Kenzie Terrace, St. Anthony, Minnesota 55418 (612) 788-4885 (612) 788-1434 April 5,2001 Honorable City Council Of the Village of Saint Anthony Dear Council Members: I respectfully submit to you the Annual report of the St.Anthony Fire Department for the year 2000.On a personal note this is the first annual report I have authored in my career. I hope you find it informative and request of you your comments for improvements in coming reports. Our new Firehouse software purchased this past year has gathered the statistics included in this first report. The year 2000 brought significant change to the department,as Chief Richard Johnson retired on March 31, 2000. After 30' years of dedicated service to the community, as successor we are building on the foundations of the department he left serving as Fire Chief for the last Ten years of his career,we thank him for that. In the year 2000, the members of the department responded to 938 emergency incident up 93 incidents . from the 845 emergency incidents responded to in 1999, an 11% increase. We attended drills BI-Monthly to maintain our current skills and acquire new ones.The data contained in this report will hopefully provide the information you need to provide an understanding of the work and mission of your Fire Department. Over the past several months we have created four new positions internally, the first was a Resource Officer.Who keeps inventory on all our equipment such as fire gear,boots,pagers,hose and truck equipment? Three Safety Officers were appointed, these folks are charged crating a safety program to comply with the fire service's Health and Welfare safety standard N.F..P.A. 1500. We want to make sure our people go home the same way they came to the fire station. On behalf of the Members of the Department and myself, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to you the Council and City Manager for your support and trust.Providing the means and tools .to improve the Department,thus improving the quality of service to our Community and us. Lastly,this is my third fire department I have had the privilege of being Chief. I have to state the people who make up this fire department are among the most dedicated I have encountered. I am most fortunate to be their Chief.The successes we have had this past year are due to this dedication,we look forward to future successes we can report to you in next year's report.
