2000 SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS <br /> April 14,2000 15:091M Dwelling Fire <br /> A fire,was reported in the home; upon our arrival we found a fire in a rear bedroom of a <br /> single-family residence. Assisting our department was a crew from Public works and <br /> Columbia Heights. Roseville Fire Department was requested to our station to cover the <br /> Village for additional incidents. Although the fire was extinguished quickly the home <br /> received extensive smoke damage. The loss was estimated at approximately$75,000. The <br /> cause was determined to be improper disposal of smoking material. <br /> June 7,2000 15:18HRS Dwelling Fire <br /> A kitchen fire was reported in the home; upon arrival crews found a small fire in the <br /> kitchen area. Crews quickly controlled the fire. The loss was estimated at$15,000. The <br /> cause was determined to be improper disposal of smoking materials. <br /> August 2,2000 04:171M Natural Gas Leak <br /> A construction crew from NSP struck a gas main in the street boulevard. The crew was <br /> replacing a pole,which on the previous day was struck by a piece of construction <br /> - equipment. Causing a power outage to the north area of the Village. Upon the.arrival of <br /> our crews, we found a large leak from a natural gas main. Crews laid a precautionary line <br /> in cause of an explosion. New Brighton Fire was called to provide a RIT crew(rescue <br /> crew)and Columbia Heights was called to our station to standby for additional calls. <br /> August 7,2000 12:48HRS Dwelling 3109 Rankin <br /> A relative checking on the home as the family was out of the state on vacation discovered <br /> the home full of smoke. Upon arrival crews discovered a small fire in an upstairs <br /> bedroom. The fire was due to a malfunctioning light assembly for an aquarium. The light <br /> burned as well as a potion of a chest of drawers, although the fire was small in nature the <br /> house was extensively damaged by soot and smoke. <br /> August 23,2000 08:23HRS. Personal Injury Accident <br /> A vehicle accident occurred on Silver Lake Road in front of City Hall critically injuring <br /> an elderly woman who was a driver of one of the vehicles involved. Her injuries caused <br /> her going a"traumatic cardiac arrest"usually resulting in the patient dieing. Being that <br /> shift change occurred at eight AK the crew who was just relieved was still in the station <br /> and responded with the on-duty crew. Upon arrival the crew found C.P.R. being <br /> performed,the crew quickly apllied our Automatic External Defibulator. Which shocked <br /> the patient back to Life. This person is alive today due to the quick actions of our people <br /> and quick response time. <br />
