POPULATION, HOUSEHOLDS, AND EMPLOYMENT <br /> ANALYSIS OF CONDITIONS <br /> This section is an analysis of all available information pertaining to socioeconomic trends including <br /> population, households, employment, building permits, and assessed valuation in Columbia Hcights. <br /> Other considerations include the changing demographic mixture of the City and its effects on the future <br /> of the housing stock. <br /> Population <br /> Table 1 compares population data from the 1980 and 1990 Census. The population of Columbia <br /> Heights' decreased approximately six percent from 1980 (20,029) to 1990 (18,910). During this same <br /> time period, Anoka County grew by 24 percent. According to 1990 Census data, there has been a <br /> geographic shift in population from the central city (Minneapolis) and first-ring suburbs (includes <br /> Columbia Heights) to the outer suburbs. <br /> 09425 1 <br />
