This is clearly the
most serious issue facing the community.
• Should efforts continue to be made to attract young couples and families to Columbia Heights
through housing assistance programs? One of the reasons that housing for the elderly was built
by the Columbia Heights Housing and Redevelopment Authority was to open up those persons'
housing for occupany by young.families.
• What should be done by the City, if anything, to help maintain the attractiveness in the market of
the small-housing units?
• What should* be done to counter the negative effects on the housing stock from industrial and
commercial areas?
• Should Columbia Heights continue to increase its efforts to provide special housing for the elderly?
• Is the City in danger of having too high ia proportion of assisted housing (especially for senior
citizens) relative to its total population? .
• If light rail transit is built through Columbia Heights, should the City do-anything to assist the
redevelopment of areas near any of the stations to higher density housing?
I -
- I
89425 18
