Locations 9, 10 and 11 on Figure 5 are composed primarily of housing, and the City should allow
and promote their redevelopment to commercial activity. As with other recent commercial
development, good-quality site planning should be expected including proper parking lot setbacks
and landscaping.
12. Minneapolis Water Department Property
If the City of Minneapolis can be convinced that it does not need this property for future water
department facilities, the City should promote its sale- to a private developer for high_value
single-family housing. This site would be ideal for that use because its high elevation gives it
great views, it is heavily wooded, has good access, and has*a wetland on its eastern side to buffer
the outdoor storage-portion of the water department operation.. Access to 47th Avenue NE across
a corner of the High School property might be helpful.
13-15. InGll Development Possibilities
There are several blocks in the southeastern portion of the community that have very deep lots
that could conceivably accommodate a cul-de-sac street with a row of lots .on each side. The
difficulty is in getting a great number of landowners to cooperate on the venture.
V%25 36
