- 6 - <br /> Fustat Fuses: Outdated and obsolete fuse types= (such as T, TL, W, <br /> glass, -etc.) must all be replaced with legal fuse-limit adapter: inserts <br /> and type-S fustats properly-sized ,to the circuit wire. Panels should be <br /> supplied with interior deadfronts which block easy access to open live <br /> wiring or--secured to prevent access by children. Any open fuse holes, <br /> and open circuit breaker slots must be plugged or capped to prevent <br /> access to live wiring. <br /> 19. 20 Amp Laundry and Kitchen Circuits: Both the laundry and kitchen <br /> require separate and isolated 20 - amp circuits with grounded duplex <br /> receptacles. <br /> 20. Junction Boxes, Cover Plates: All wire splices shall be made in <br /> properly mounted and installed electrical junction boxes with protective <br /> covers in place. All switch and outlet boxes shall be equipped with <br /> cover plates. <br /> Wiring: All hazardous wiring must be removed or corrected. <br /> Pendants: Any ungrounded lights or electrical outlets that hang from a <br /> power cord (such as often found over a laundry area), are hazardous and <br /> must be removed. <br /> Closet and Storage Room Light Fixtures: Light fixtures originally <br /> installed in closets and storage rooms and NOT directly located over any <br /> shelving may remain without any type of adjustment or modification, <br /> (globes, shields, etc. ) . All other installations such' as pendent <br /> lights, extension cord wired fixtures, or any other type of illegally <br /> installed light fixtures shall be removed. Removal of permanently <br /> installed fixtures shall require that wires be capped and junction.'box <br /> cover installed. <br /> 21. Appliance Receptacles: All permanent appliances are required to be <br /> provided with a grounded electrical receptacle. The third ground prong <br /> on a plug shall never be removed to accommodate an ungrounded receptacle <br /> or extension cord. Plug adapters are never allowed. <br /> Extension Cords: Indirect connections to any light or appliance are not <br /> approved. Thus, extension cords, octopus extension outlets, light <br /> socket adapter outlets, etc. are prohibited. Also, lights with a <br /> pullchain (which could cause a short circuit into a grounded person) <br /> must have the chain shortened and replaced with a non-conductive <br /> pullcord (e.g. string, leather, etc.). <br /> HEATING AND GAS PIPING <br /> 22. Furnace Condition: Furnaces must be in safe operating condition. Units <br /> that are 20 years and older must be tested ,by a City licensed-: heating <br /> contractor. Testing shall consist of (1) a C.O. test, and (2) either a <br /> smoke bomb, leak seek, or gas track test, being performed on the <br /> furnace. A written report giving specific results of the required tests <br /> shall be provided. If the inspector suspects that a the may exist <br /> on a newer furnace because of excessive interior furnace deterioration, <br /> excessive moisture in house when furnace is in operation, etc., testing <br /> may be called for. <br />
