Parks Commission Meeting Minutes June 4, 2001 Page 5 1 Chair Jindra indicated.that there still was some dissatisfaction with the anticipated completion 2 date, and that, if possible, the start date.of the project be moved up. 3 V. REPORTS. 4 A. Community Services. 5 Diane Skrivseth stated that they are through meeting through the summer months, and 6 had nothing to report. 7 B. School Board. 8 Denise Dunn stated she did not have anything to report. 9 C. Sports Boosters. 10 George Zurbey stated that they did not have a formal meeting this month, and had 11 nothing new to report. 12 VI. OTHER BUSINESS. 13 Chair Jindra asked the Commission if they thought it would be a good idea to rally for some 14 community support by educating them more on what is happening with the project. She 15 suggested donations for trees at Villagefest, and adding some information in-the St. Anthony 16 bulletin. Councilmember Hodson suggested the donations for trees become a tree adoption 17 program, complete with plaques listing the names of those who adopted trees. 18 Commissioner Gebhardt suggested they stop comparing the project to the shelter over at New 19 Brighton. Mr. Anderson agreed with Commissioner Gebhardt, and suggested that they have 20 some type of display with price tags attached at Villagefest, so that the community can really see 21 what is intended for the project, while providing the opportunity to donate money for Central 22 Park. 23 Chair Jindra suggested that they consider some options to promote the project and discuss them 24 at a later meeting. 25 Commissioner Koehntop asked if there had been any requests for a soccer field to be put in 26 somewhere in the Northwest Quadrant. Councilmember Hodson indicated it was a possibility. 27 Mr. Anderson stated that he doubted it would happen without.ant type of entrance fee, unless it 28 was presented differently. 29 VII. ADJOURNMENT. 30 Motion by Commissioner Hallada, second by Commissioner Koehntop, to adjourn the meeting at 31 9:03 p.m. 32 Motion carried unanimously.
