■
Typical Structure ■
Roof ■
The typical bay for the retail spaces in the complex is a 25' by 25' square, and is fairly regular
throughout the building. The roof structure consists of 1 '/z" steel decking spanning between steel ■
joists, which are spaced at about 4' centers. The joists, in turn, span 25' between rolled steel beams, ■
which span between the columns that are spaced at 25' centers. The typical height of the roof above
the floor is about 16 feet. ■
Mezzanine
At the southeast corner of the building, there is a mezzanine floor at the typical roof elevation. The ■
floor is L-shaped and the east leg is about 175' by 50' and the south leg is about 200' by 75'. It is
constructed with a steel form deck which appears to be either 5/8" or 1" thick with a concrete slab ■
which is very likely 2 '/2" thick on top of the deck (based upon similar construction observed for this ■
type of building). The form deck slab is supported by steel joists which are spaced approximately 2'
on center. Similar to the roof construction, the joists are supported by rolled steel girders which are
about 24" deep and span between the steel columns, which are spaced at about 25 foot centers. The
mezzanine appears have a floor to roof distance of about 12'. ■
Floor
With the exception of the floor over partial basement areas, the floor is a cast-in-place, concrete
slab-on-grade. Based on experience with similar projects, it is likely about 4 to 5" in thickness.
At the basement areas, the floor is constructed with a steel form deck which appears to be either ■
5/8" or 1" thick with a concrete slab which is very likely 2 '/z" thick on top of the deck (based upon ■
similar construction observed for this type of building). Based on experience with ■
similar projects, it is likely about 4" to 5" in thickness. The basement walls are cast-in-place ■
concrete, and the basement is about 15' to 16' below the floor slab.
Exterior Wall ■
The exterior wall for the one-story building is constructed with face brick to about 2/3 height of the
■
■
emu• t' aL+'+ a
Y
-- - TA, ■
Exterior South Elevation ■
exterior wall. A combination of a light, metal vertical panel and then a dark, metal panel mansard- ■
type wall is constructed above the brick. The backup for this system has not been observed. At
some of the corners, stone replaces the brick. ■
■
12 ■
■
