City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> June 26, 2001 <br /> Page 11 <br /> 1 Mr. Hansen added that the Wilshire sign was out of ordinance. <br /> 2 Mayor Cavanaugh stated that they were not going to rehash what was going to be a public <br /> 3 hearing on July 17, 2001. <br /> 4 Mr. Hansen said he appreciated their time, but was disappointed with his inability to fully <br /> 5 express his concerns with the issues surrounding the sign ordinance. <br /> 6 Mayor Cavanaugh stated that Mr. Hansen's comments from the Planning Commission <br /> 7 Meeting did accomplish a reshaping of the ordinance by the Legal Council and by the <br /> 8 Planning Commission, and that it was a situation where he needed to take one step at a <br /> 9 time. <br /> to XII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 11 City Manager's report: <br /> 12 City Manager Morrison indicated that they are waiting for the House, Senate and Governor to <br /> 13 resolve their differences on the Property Tax Bill. He indicated that they are in limbo until then <br /> 14 and that they have their next budget presentation August 14, 2001. <br /> 15 Mr. Morrison stated that they have money in their Tax Increment Plan to demolish and remove <br /> 16 the Custom Liquidators Building. He added that he would like to have Jay Hartman work with <br /> 17 one of their firms to bid it out and see how much it would cost, in case they would have to act <br /> 18 fast. Mayor Cavanaugh stated if he thought there were funding, he would still push for a <br /> 19 Community Building. <br /> 20 Mayor Cavanaugh asked about the letter they received from the League of Minnesota Cities <br /> 21 shutdown. Mr. Mornson indicated that they he do not see it having a large impact. However, if <br /> 22 the shutdown would go into Labor Day, they may have some issues. <br /> 23 XIII. INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br /> 24 Councilmember Sparks noted that a group of residents were organizing an Intergenerational <br /> 25 Theater Project for the summer. She added that tryouts would be held at the High School next <br /> 26 week on Thursday and Friday evenings. <br /> 27 Councilmember Thuesen-stated that the current library system would still be in the Shopping <br /> 28 Center, but the owners of the Shopping Center were not ready to publicly comment on where the <br /> 29 new library would go. He added that their latest estimation could be by the end of July, and the <br /> 30 new library would be more updated, and larger than the current library system. Councilmember <br /> 31 Thuesen added it could be up and running by November 16''. <br /> 32 Councilmember Thuesen added that he read the letter from Assistant City Manager Sue Henry <br /> 33 regarding muffler noise,etc. He stated he would be anxious to see how it turns out, as he does <br /> 34 not see how it can be legislated.
