Childs, City Manager <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> SUMMARY DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT: We have discussed the exchange of equipment <br /> and manpower with neighboring cities in recent months. This has actually been <br /> done on an informal basis at the Public Works Director level for some years. Now, <br /> in this time of recession/depression , cost saving measures and intergovernmental <br /> cooperation is- a necessity more than a convenience. The attached memo demonstrates <br /> initial efforts to formalize the exchange program and is presented for your <br /> information. <br /> FISCAL IMPACT: Actual dollar calculations of savings are difficult and examples <br /> are the main way of showing benefit. If Roseville were to hire a contractor to <br /> televise their sewers, the cost would be around $100.00 per hour. If St. Anthony <br /> were to need a jet rodder and hire a contractor, the cost would be similar. Since <br /> we have a sewer television setup and Roseville has a jet rodder, we can exchange <br /> the equipment for a short time at double savings. Similar savings could be shown in <br /> other similar exchanges. <br /> ALTERNATIVES : <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Staff will be proceeding with the program and hopefully expand <br /> it into other areas: We will periodically report our progress and successes/ <br /> ,ailures. <br /> 'CITY MANAGER' S REVIEW: COMMENTS : <br />
