The easement would not cross or impinge upon the
right-of-way of those tracks,
Two goals come to mind at Sunset in making this request:
First, to connect the two separate sections of the Park; the older section
to the south with the newer section to the north of the Boulevard,
which would eliminate delays and dangerous exposure of funeral
processions crossing between the two sections via the entryways
located adjecent the traffic island at the intersection of the
Boulevard and Minnesota Highway #88;
Second, to close off and remove these above-mentioned entryways in order to
gain more control of traffic through the Park and to increase overall
security on the grounds.
I have been in contact with both Mr. Larry Hamer, Director of Public Works, and
Mr. Steve Campbell, P,E. , Short-Elloitt-Hendrickson, Inc. , the consulting
engineers retained by St. Anthony Village, to determine the feasibility of such
an easement. Preliminary inspections of the old bridge, the railroad right-of-
way, Sunset' s grounds and the blueprints of the proposed new bridge have
indicated that no engineering or construction problems would exist. The project
of connecting the two Park sections, it was felt, should phase in smoothly with
the construction of the bridge and would in no way delay or necessitate any
change of the bridge construction as now anticipated by the State of Minnesota,
Furthermore, Sunset Memorial Park has retained Short-Elliott-Hendrickson, Inc.
• as consulting engineers for this project in order to insure that continuity
exists in the phasing of the total bridge project and the execution of the
requested easement,
2250 St. Anthony Blvd. N.E., Minneapolis, MN 55418 (612) 789-3596
