The following reports in the Council agenda packet were considered •
briefly before they were ordered filed as informational:
*the December 27th report from the City Prosecutor reporting the St.
Anthony cases the Hance & LeVahn law firm had handled in Hennepin
County District Court up to and including December 21, 1988;
*the November 1988 Financial Report.
CITY MANAGER REPORTS
Low Bids Accepted for Fire Station Window Replacement and Carpet and
Ceiling Installation
Copies of all the bids on the above projects had been included in the
agenda packet along with staff information and recommendations. Mr.
Childs drew the Council's attention to the report from Dick Johnson,
Chair of the Remodeling Committee, in which the Fire Captain had
projected that the remodeling costs, excluding the exterior wall finish,
would amount to $76,160.00 which would be $4,500.00 less than originally
budgeted. Captain Johnson had estimated that with the addition of
exterior . finish next spring, the *whole reconstruction cost would be
approximately $100,000.00. Mr. Childs indicated most of the savings had
resulted from the window replacements costing about $8,000.00 less than
originally estimated. He said the Fire Department perceives that the
lower priced windows are of high quality and will be perfectly •
acceptable for this remodeling project.
Council Action
Motion by Marks, seconded by Ranallo to accept the low bid of $10,719.00
from Val-Pro, Inc. to replace the windows in the remodeled City fire
station.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Marks, seconded by Enrooth to accept the low bid of $2,784.00
from The Carpet Store to install approximately 240 square yards of
carpeting as required for the fire station remodeling project.
Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Makowske, seconded by Marks to accept the low bid of $2,560.00
from Acoustics Associates, Inc. for materials and labor required for the
installation of acoustical ceiling at the fire station, concurring with '
staff conclusion that it would be more cost effective to have
experienced factory installers rather than City personnel to install the
ceiling.
Notion carried unanimously.
