S®
To keep the property owners of the Apache Plaza Mall and Salvation Army
Fresh Air Camp properties informed about the study and ongoing progress
of planning activities.
Goal No. 6 News Media
To provide the news media with accurate and timely information on the St.
Anthony redevelopment study, enabling the news media to assist in keeping
community members.informed.
6. Key Messages
The key messages for the St. Anthony Redevelopment Planning Study will grow and
evolve as the project develops. However, throughout the project it will always be critical
to reiterate the need, the purpose, the benefits, what happens if nothing is done, and how
the public can stay informed and involved.
1) St. Anthony is conducting a redevelopment planning study for an area of about
250 acres including the Apache Plaza Mall and the Salvation Army Fresh Air
Camp site.
2) Apache Plaza Mall was once a focal point of St. Anthony but changes in retail
trends have made it less relevant to the community.
3) Redevelopment would once again make the Apache Plaza Mall area a community
asset, enhancing the vitality of the entire community.
4) The Salvation Army is actively marketing the Fresh Air Camp site for sale and
development. The City wants to ensure the development of the site is
complimentary with the community's needs.
5) A citizen's group, working with a planning consultant, will conduct a yearlong
master planning study for the Apache Plaza/Salvation Army study area.
6) The study will result in a redevelopment concept for the site that will be based on
the community's needs, market demand and financial feasibility.
7) The community will be invited to attend the study's bimonthly citizen's group
meetings, a project open house and a community issues forum, and will also be
kept informed through the City newsletter, the City's website and area
newspapers.
7. Communications Tools
6
