production,and warehousing areas, shall be constructed and maintained in a safe <br /> condition as prescribed in Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 182. <br /> • 3.352(5) Windows.Doors.and Screens: Every window,exterior door,and hatchway shall <br /> be substantially tight and shall be kept in sound condition and repair. Every <br /> window, other than a fixed window or storm window, shall be capable of being <br /> easily opened. Every window, door, and frame shall be constructed and <br /> maintained in such relation to the adjacent wall construction as to completely <br /> exclude rain, wind, vermin, and.rodents from entering the building. _Every <br /> window or other device with openings to outdoor space which is used or intended <br /> to be used for ventilation shall be supplied with 16-mesh screens. <br /> 3.352(6) Safe Building Elements: Every foundation,roof,floor,exterior and interior wall, <br /> ceiling, inside and outside stair, every porch, platform, and balcony, and every <br /> appurtenance thereto, shall be safe to use and capable of supporting loads that <br /> normal use may cause to be placed thereon. <br /> 3.352 (7) Access: Access to and egress from every portion of every building shall be <br /> provided in conformance to the requirements set forth in Section 3.20 through <br /> 3.223 of this chapter and based upon type of occupancy and type of construction. <br /> 3.352 (g) Minimum Ceiling Height: The ceiling height of any habitable room shall be at <br /> least seven feet;except that in any habitable room under a sloping ceiling at least <br /> one-half of the floor area shall have a ceiling height of at least seven feet, and the <br /> floor area of that part of such a room where the ceiling height is less than five feet <br /> shall not be considered as part of the floor area in computing the total floor area <br /> of the room for the purpose of determining the maximum permissible occupancy. <br /> 3.352 (9) Units Below Grade: No space located more than four feet below grade shall be <br /> used as a habitable room of a dwelling unless approved by the Building Official. <br /> Approval shall be based on compliance with the minimum standards of this Code <br /> for habitable rooms. <br /> 3.353 - Minimum Interior Standards for Dwelling Units. <br /> 3.353 (1) Kitchen Facilities: Every kitchen in every dwelling unit shall include the <br /> following: <br /> 3.353(1) (a) Sink. A kitchen sink in good working condition and properly connected to <br /> an approved water supply system and which provides at all times a <br /> reasonable amount of heated and unheated running water under pressure,and <br /> which is connected to an approved sewer system. <br /> 3.35301 (b) Storage. Cabinets and/or shelves for the storage of eating, drinking, and <br /> cooking equipment and utensils and of food that does not require refrigeration <br /> for safekeeping; and a counter or table for food preparation. Said cabinets <br /> and/or shelves and counter or table shall be adequate for the permissible _ <br /> occupancy of the dwelling unit and shall be of sound construction furnished <br /> with surfaces that are easily cleanable and that will not impart any toxic or <br /> deleterious effect to food. Each dwelling unit shall have facilities for the safe <br /> storage of drugs and poisonous household chemicals. <br /> ® 3.353(1) (c) Stove and Refrigerator.
