will be retained to the extent possible.
Otherwise, new landscaping will be added selectively to other areas of the site.
Existing trees will be saved as is possible. A low retaining wall will be included
between the rear of the building and the row of vegetation that boarders the park. This
low wall (approximately two exposed courses of block) will run north-south, and will
break up the steepness of the grade and further assist with lawn maintenance.
The exterior facade consists of brick masonry in a deep red color, with accents bands
and a lower wall of cast stone. This pre-cast stone is of a tan or buff color. There are
glazed window openings and glazed overhead doors for viewing, daylighting and
visual access by the public. While the building is basically box-shaped, the front
entrance is a one story projection with a curved front wall.
There are two types of roof options that may be selected. The less expensive option is
of an entirely flat roof design. The alternate is for a flat roof at the apparatus bays,
accented with a pair of arch roofs made of standing seem sheet metalwork. If chosen
and affordable, the standing seam roof is proposed to be of a deep green color.
JLO
2
