She told the youngsters she hopes others will <br /> learn from their fine example of service to- the community. <br /> Mayor Elect Sundland then presented Mayor Haik with a plaque- com- <br /> memorating her own. excellent service of nine: years in public office, . . <br /> telling her, "St. Anthony is abetter place for having you on the <br /> Council and as Mayor" . <br /> Council consensus. was that there is no undeveloped land in St. Anthony <br /> to devote to a disposal, resource recovery , or a waste transfer <br /> center requested by Hennepin County. <br /> The Manager reported Short-Elliott-Hendrickson, Inc. had .submitted a <br /> proposal for updating the estimated construction costs for the <br /> i proposed street overlay-restoration project at the request of staff <br /> who believe they will need the revised figures to confer with the <br /> bonding .companies and that current estimates should be furnished the <br /> Council prior to the town hearings where the restoration program will <br /> be presented to the community, because, 'Mr. Childs cautioned, "the <br /> residents will hold you to the figures you first present to them" . _ <br /> The Manager said he would like to make an advance announcement in <br /> the January Newsletter that the City is contemplating a street <br /> improvements program which will require additional -funding. Authori- <br /> zation of the $500 cost of the study was deferred until the work <br /> session on the street project is .held by the Council in January . <br /> Councilman Ranallo believes it essential that residents also be made <br /> aware of the serious financial problems which will result for the <br /> City if the state aid is delayed past the June 1982 payment date. <br /> Many residents have indicated .to Council members that they believe <br /> City services should be maintained at their present levels and the <br /> Council agreed the community has to. be told that it may cost them <br /> more to do so. ,. The Manager was directed to contact the City 's <br /> representatives in the State -Legislature to request they keep the <br /> City informed as to the effects they perceive the proposed budget <br /> cuts may have for the City. <br /> The $1,300 cost of replacing the driveway for the National Cash <br /> Register Sales building as part of the Anthony Lane North reconstruction <br /> project had been .mistakenly identified as a Roseville charge at the <br /> last Council meeting and Mr. Childs requested the motion of approval <br /> be repeated. <br /> Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Marks to <br /> approve Change Order #3 .in the amount of $1 , 300 for the Anthony Lane <br /> North reconstruction project without the conditions imposed on .this <br /> approval November 24 , 1981. <br /> • Motion carried unanimously-. <br />
