Section 4su:uu / <br /> Page 2 <br /> Subd. 10. FLASHING SIGN: an illuminated sign which contains flashing lights <br /> or exhibits noticeable changes in light intensity. <br /> Subd. 11 . GROUND SIGN: any sign which is freestanding by virtue of being <br /> structurally independent of any structure or object , is affixed to <br /> the ground by means of a base with no visibility between the <br /> bottom of the sign and the base on which it is attached and may <br /> make use of landscaping to enhance the appearance of the signage. <br /> Subd. 12. HISTORICAL IDENTIFICATION SYMBOLS : those symbols which have histori- <br /> cally been identified with the service the establishment provides , <br /> and is common with similar enterprises in all other localities and <br /> is not a particular trademark or business identification. <br /> Subd. 13. ILLUMINATED SIGN: a sign designed to give forth any artificial <br /> or reflected light, either directly from a source connected with <br /> the sign or indirectly from -an artificial source, so shielded that <br /> no direct illumination from it is visible except on the sign and <br /> in its immediate proximity. <br /> Subd. 14. IDENTIFICATION SIGN: a sign which contains no advertising but is <br /> limited to the name, address and number of a building , institution , <br /> or person and to the activity carried on in the building or <br /> institution or the occupation of the person. <br /> Subd. 15. PEDESTAL: a foundation or base of a ground sign which either directly <br /> supports the signage or completely screens the supporting members <br /> of the sign. <br /> Subd. 16. PERSON: an individual , firm, association , organization , partner- • <br /> ship, trust or corporation. <br /> Subd. 17. POLITICAL SIGN: any sign which states the name/or picture of an <br /> individual seeking election or appointment to a public office, or <br /> pertaining to a forthcoming public election or referendum, or per- <br /> taining to or advocating political views or policies erected on <br /> private property, which are erected by a bona fide candidate for <br /> political office or by a person or group supporting such a candi - <br /> date and which contains the name of the person or group chairman <br /> responsible for the erection and removal of the sign. <br /> Subd. 18. PYLON SIGN: any sign which is freestanding by virtue of being <br /> structurally independent of any structure or object other than <br /> uprights, braces or poles , without guywires or pedestal . <br /> Subd. 19. PROJECTING SIGN : a sign other than a wall sign, which is affixed <br /> to a building and projects outward more than 15 inches from the <br /> building wall or structure. <br /> Subd. 20. PUBLIC SERVICE SIGN: any sign primarily intended to promote items <br /> of general interest to the community. <br /> Subd. . 21 . REAL ESTATE SIGN: a sign pertaining to the sale, lease , or rental <br /> of the real estate upon which it is located. <br /> Subd. 22. ROOF LINE: the uppermost line of the roof of a building, or, in • <br /> `J the case of an extended facade, the uppermost height of said facade. <br />
