He observed that <br /> 3 if this were done it would mean another delay for the LRT. The Commissioner <br /> 4 felt if only one line were put into operation it would prove to the Legis- <br /> 5 lature how effective it would be. <br /> 6 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo inquired if Commissioner Sivanich had any solutions for <br /> 7 the water problems being experienced in St. Anthony. The Commissioner responded <br /> 8 that Hennepin County is not really in the sewer business, but referred to the <br /> 9 City of Minneapolis' work in separating storm and sanitary sewer lines. He sug- <br /> 10 gested that the City separate when the streets are repaved and tap into <br /> 11 Minneapolis' lines. He also suggested that the City of St. Anthony request <br /> 12 funding for this project from the Legislature, noting that funds were allocated <br /> 13 for this project to the City of St. Paul by the Legislature. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 6. REPORTS <br /> 16 <br /> 17 A. Council <br /> 18 Councilmembers Makowske and Enrooth had nothing to report at this time. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Counc i I member. Marks, who is a member of the Ramsey County Intergovernmental <br /> 21 Commission, is recommending to the Ramsey County Railroad Authority to <br /> 22 consider a light rail transit corridor be placed from downtown St. Paul <br /> �3 along 194 where there is a four hundred foot right-of-way. Four different <br /> 24 options were discussed by the Authority. Councilmember Marks felt one of <br /> 25 these corridors would serve the City of St. Anthony very well and its resi- <br /> 26 dents would be afforded good bus connections for the feeder buses as well . <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo received a letter from Andrew Szurek regarding an <br /> �9 article which appeared in a local newspaper. Mr. Szurek stated that the <br /> 30 article addressed the installation of sidewalks, a subject which he is <br /> 31 interested in seeing happen on Silver Lane between Silver Lake Road and <br /> 32 Stinson .Boulevard. Councilmember Makowske recalled this had been explored <br /> 33 34 and the cost was prohibitive and figured out to be about $2,306 per 70 feet <br /> 5 of residential property. The City Manager stated that the average life of <br /> 3 <br /> 35 a sidewalk is about thirty years depending on the base. <br /> 37 The City Manager advised that the City's Road Construction Task Force has <br /> 38 been meeting for three months now and wants the information they have <br /> 39 considered included. in the City newsletter as well as on cable television. <br /> 40 The Task Force will also be considering sidewalks in the City and has <br /> 41 planned a walking tour for its April meeting. It was suggested that Mr. <br /> 42 Szurek be contacted regarding the upcoming Task Force meetings. Information <br /> 43 about the Task Force will be sent home with school children in the City <br /> 44 for their <br /> 45 parents' to -view. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo observed that the profits from the off-sale liquor <br /> 48 stores have decreased steadily. The City Manager stated that this is <br /> 49 traditionally a slow period and sales will be increasing when the weather <br /> 50 warms up.
