Council Reports <br /> y <br /> 7 Report of Councilmember Wagner <br /> P Councilmember Wagner gave a status report on the City' s participation <br /> 9 in the Special Olympics. He will be in contact with the City which is <br /> 10 being hosted by St . Anthony. He will invite the athletes to visit the <br /> 11' City if possible and make arrangements for souvenirs to be given to <br /> 12 the athletes . <br /> 13 <br /> i4 Apache Plaza is presently installing a garden center.. Councilmember <br /> 15 Wagner noted that the Health Fair held at the Plaza recently was very <br /> 16 successful as was the Pine Box Derby. He felt these activites were <br /> 17 very positive and were encouraging for the Plaza. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Mayor Ranallo advised he has received calls from residents across from <br /> 20 Apache Plaza expressing concern with a "hut" and he inquired what this <br /> 21 structure was supposed to be . The City Manager felt the City staff had <br /> 22 been misled when the structure was requested that it should have an <br /> 23 accessory use designation. He will contact the owners regarding the <br /> 24 need for a conditional use permit. <br /> 25 <br /> • 26 Report of Councilmember Fleming <br /> 27 Councilmember Fleming attended the reception for retiring Officer Bill <br /> 28 Ferguson. She presented the award for the twenty-six year employee. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Report of Councilmember Marks <br /> 31 Councilmember Marks had nothing to report at this time. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Report of Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 34 Councilmember Enrooth received photos of the Recycling Center from _Sue <br /> 35 VanderHeyden. He noted that there are tires left at the Center each <br /> 36 week and there is broken glass. He felt the appearance .of the Center <br /> 37 is getting worse. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Councilmember Enrooth expressed concern with the amount of funding <br /> 40 the Center is requiring each year and felt serious consideration should <br /> 41 be given to continuing its use. He recommended that the bin be locked. <br /> 42 - <br /> 43 Mayor Ranallo has noticed that large pieces of furniture are being left <br /> 44 at the Recycling Center and it costs the City to have these items re- <br /> 4S moved. He suggested that it be open only during certain hours. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 The City Manager advised that the gate is open during the week as <br /> 48 vehicles from the Public Works Department use this area for access. <br /> 49 This facilitates dumping all week long by residents as well as non- <br /> 50 residents. He will contact the Public Works Director regarding changing <br /> • <br />
