0 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> 2 DECEMBER 10, 1991 <br /> 3 PAGE 7 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Motion by Marks, second by Wagner to approve the sign <br /> 7 variance request for the pylon sign allowed by the City's <br /> 8 Sign Ordinance to a gas station under Section 430:40, <br /> 9 Subdivision B2, finding that the request meets the three <br /> 10 statutory requirements and no one appeared to speak <br /> 11 against the variance. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Councilmember Wagner expressed a concern that this sign <br /> 14 not be located where it would interfere with traffic <br /> 15 lights or pedestrian crosswalks. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 The City Manager advised that it will not be blocking any <br /> 18 lights nor in the pedestrian walkway. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 22 <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Mayor Ranallo feels all signs should be worked on and <br /> 2j* requested that the Chamber of Commerce and the Merchants' <br /> 2 Associations of the two shopping centers in the City be <br /> 27 contacted for input. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Councilmember Enrooth concurred that all signs in the <br /> 30 City should be addressed and noted that there seems to be <br /> 31 endless requests for variances and haggling over signs. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 The City Manager will contact local business people for <br /> 34 input as well. The Mayor. requested the City Manager to <br /> 35 contact the former City Manager, Dave Childs and Larry <br /> 36 Hamer, Public Works Director, for assistance also. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Commissioner Faust stated that the Planning Commission <br /> 39 was very impressed with the developers of the Stop-N-Shop <br /> 40 shopping mall and with their presentation. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 <br /> 43 B. COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Report of Mayor Ranallo <br /> 46 The Mayor advised he has received a number of phone calls <br /> 47 regarding parking of vehicles on the streets where there <br /> 48 is a great deal of snow. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 The City Manager stated that snow removal has been a slow <br /> 50 process this year with the quantity of snow in such a <br /> 5 short time and the front end loader was out of service <br /> 53 due to mechanical failures. He noted that the snow must <br /> 54 be moved back from the street and that overnight parking <br />
