• MEMORANDUM
DATE: November 20, 1996.
TO: Michael Morrison, City Manager
FROM: Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant
ITEM: Cub Sign Plan Amendment
Because a representative from SuperValu did not attend the November 19, 1996 Planning
Commission meeting, the Planning,Commission wanted me'to pass on to you and the
City Council the following statement.
The general consensus of the Planning Commission is to support, with reservations, the
amendment to the Cub Sign Plan. Their support.is with reservations because no one from
SuperValu was there to*speak about the need for this amendment. The Planning
Commission supports redevelopment of the Apache Plaza, but are concerned with the
continual requests for changes to the comprehensive sign plan as originally submitted.
• Their concerns were unanimous and the Commission was divided as the result and could
not provide outright approval.
Commissioners Delmonico, Gondorchin, Franzese, and Thompson voted to approve, with
reservation, the amendment; Commissioners Bergstrom and Makowski voted to not
approve because of the precedent it would provide for other requests that might occur as
redevelopment continues at Apache Plaza.
•
