City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> May 12, 1998 <br /> Page 6 • <br /> 1 Thuesen stated when he originally considered the options, he was more in favor of Option 3. He <br /> 2 had wondered if this was the best use of the money for the bridge. After further consideration, he <br /> 3 belieyed,that Option 4 was preferred as it would be attractive in an area which the City is trying <br /> 4 to revitalize and could possibly be used as a marketing tool. <br /> 5 Morrison noted there will be a series of continuing meetings and also meetings will be held with <br /> 6 the public in regard to this issue. <br /> 7 Ranallo suggested that the motion be amended to authorize the expenditure of up to $69,000 and <br /> 8 alternative designs be considered at a Council Work Session. <br /> 9 Faust amended his motion to "Authorize up to $69,000 to be spent'on bridge enhancements in <br /> 10 conjunction with the Silver Lake Road Bridge Project and direct Ramsey County to provide <br /> 11 designs within that budget". Marks agreed to the amendment. <br /> 12 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 13 C. Councilmembers. <br /> 14 Cavanaugh thanked City Manager and City Staff for an excellent job done on the Volunteer <br /> 15 Appreciation Dinner. He also thanked the Volunteer Committee who worked on this effort. • <br /> 16 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at City Clean-up Day and that this event was successful. <br /> 17 Cavanaugh reported that VillageFest is on schedule. He noted the group is always looking for <br /> 18 participation and provides a great way to become involved with the community. <br /> 19 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at a Northwest Family Services orientation program which <br /> 20 provided a means to get better acquainted with the programs they offer. <br /> 21 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at the Annual Meeting of the Chamber of Commerce. He <br /> 22 stated this was his first time in attendance and the meeting was worthwhile. <br /> 23 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at the Silver Lake Residents Association Meeting. This was . <br /> 24 his first time into the Salvation Army Camp and he met the New Director Alan Stock. The <br /> 25 Camp is a good operation and he is interested to see what else can be done with that <br /> 26 organization. <br /> 27 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at the Mayors Commission Against Drugs Meeting. He <br /> 28 stated that Susan Bendera has been attending these meetings as a resident. This group is <br /> 29 currently concerned with the issue of hotel rooms being rented for high school students by adults. <br /> 30 They have previously done work in the school parking lots and lockers with police dogs. <br /> 31 Cavanaugh noted that St. Anthony Police Officer Dominic Cotroneo,was also in attendance at <br /> 32 this meeting. <br />
