John Ohl <br /> RE: Partial List of Need for Additional Officers <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> - Unfunded mandates (usurps a lot of officer' s time) <br /> - No CSO <br /> - No juvenile liaison officer <br /> - No full time Crime Prevention officer <br /> - No full time training officer <br /> - Only one full time investigator <br /> - Apache Plaza renovation will substantially increase call load <br /> - Over time consideration during officer transitions (young <br /> department - officers will move to other agencies. <br /> - Paperwork has doubled, if not tripled, in last ten years <br /> - DARE, Crime Prevention, and training have sapped line officer <br /> strength <br /> - Federal money available now for new officers at a substantial <br /> savings <br /> - Training (for liability purposes and POST) <br /> - Trailer 'Park (ownership change) - increased call load <br /> - Continued supervision of very inexperienced department and <br /> multiple tasks (vehicle forfeitures, license plate <br /> impoundments, drug seizures, domestic reports, booking <br /> procedures, day to day activities, etc. ) <br />
