CSO JOB DESCRIPTION/TASK STATEMENT <br /> Primary Objective of the Position: <br /> To relieve licensed officers of.non-.police duties and to provide community and agency <br /> assistance in the listed areas. Responsibilities shall be consistent with time saving to line <br /> -officers, so as to facilitate community orientated policing principles. <br /> Maior Responsibility Areas: <br /> 1) Animal Control <br /> a)- Pick up stray animals as apparent or as requested by citizen complaint. <br /> b) Trap and relocate undomesticated animals. <br /> 2) Parking <br /> a) Enforce City parking ordinances. <br /> b) Arrange for illegally parked vehicles to be towed and/or impounded as necessary. <br /> 3) Traffic . <br /> a) Assist officers at the scene of accidents. <br /> b) Assist with traffic control, traffic and radar surveys. <br /> 4) Equipment Maintenance <br /> a) Assist in the maintenance of agency radio equipment and medical supplies. <br /> b) Maintain oxygen bottles and fire extinguishers as needed. <br /> c) Assist in the maintenance of squad cars(EVS, radios, etc.). <br /> 5) Support Services <br /> a) Transport equipment or personnel as requested. <br /> b) Answer administrative phones when needed. <br /> c) Drop tags at Hennepin and Ramsey daily. <br /> d) Make City Attorney runs. <br /> 6) Legal <br /> a) Appear in.court as ordered. <br /> 7) Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Police or the Watch Supervisor. <br /> Required Abilities and Skills <br /> 1. Communicate well orally and in writing; in English. <br /> 2. Read, learn and apply ordinances, policies, rules and other materials written in <br /> English. <br /> 3. Lift and carry 100 lbs. <br /> 4. Walk/run on uneven terrain and climb stairs. <br />
