City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
January 11, 2000
. Page 9
1 that many of the projects would be impacted. Mornson stated that the 1999 Council had previ-
2 ously arranged the conditions for 100-year flood protection, and to keep in mind that significant
3 complications could result if the protection was altered.
4 Cavanaugh agreed and stated that the will of the previous Council had been total support for the
5 100-year objective and that such objective was important to the residents. Not only would it take
6 a.significant process to alter the 100-year objective, but that the residents.would have to acqui-
7 esce to a lesser protection. Additionally, the 1999 Council had previously passed resolutions in
8 support of 100-year flood protection.
4
9 Richard Miller, 2717 30th Avenue, offered a suggestion that the community meeting be reserved
10 for the homeowners that would be impacted, and not the surrounding homeowners. He offered
11 other suggestions and, in that respect, Mr. Hubmer suggested that Mr. Miller put together the
12 information into a memo and fax it to WSB for further action. Mr. Miller agreed.
13 City Manager's Report.
14 City Manager Michael Mornson directed the Council's attention to his memo dated January 10,
15 2000 to the Mayor and Councilmembers which depicted a list of upcoming activities requiring
16 Council involvement. Those activities.and discussions are set forth below.
17 Mornson has arranged a meeting with Parks Commission Chair Carol Jindra to discuss the role
18 of the Commission in the redevelopment of the St. Anthony Shopping Center.
19 Mornson and Richard Krier, Consultant for the St. Anthony Shopping Center redevelopment,
20 will be meeting prior to the next Council meeting on January 25, 2000 to interview landscape
21 architects. In this respect, Parks Commission Chair Carol Jindra will be asked to be involved in
22 the interviewing process. In the meantime, Mornson wanted to remind the Council that there is
23 an intensive schedule to be followed, but that there continues to be opportunities for the Parks
24 Commission's involvement.
25 In addition, Mornson stated that Management Assistant Kim Moore-Sykes would be providing
26. periodic reports to the Planning Commission. It is anticipated that the Planning Commission
27 would review the building improvements.
28 Mornson stated that Scott Tankenoff, Hillcrest Development, who was in attendance at the
29 Special Council Meeting on January 4, 2000, had confirmed that he would appear before the
30 Planning Commission at the next meeting on January 18, 2000.
