' 4. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
' 4.1 Sanitary Sewer
The existing 12-inch(12")VCP will be reconstructed with 12" PVC on Wilson Street
from 29`h Avenue NE to 30`h Avenue NE and the existing 9-inch (9") VCP will be
reconstructed with 10-inch(10")PVC at a lower elevation to eliminate conflicts with
proposed storm sewer.
' The proposed sanitary sewer improvements are shown on Figure 2 in Appendix
A.
' 4.2 Watermain
The existing water mains will be entirely or partially exposed by the excavation
required for the sanitary sewer and storm sewer improvements. In addition, many
of the water service lines to the individual properties will be removed or
disconnected for a period of time. The excavation for the other utilities provides a
timely opportunity for improvements to the water distribution system before
significant problems are experienced.
The proposed water main improvements consist of replacing the existing 6" mains
with new 8" ductile iron pipe mains and copper service taps and lines. This will
' improve delivery of potable water and fire flow volume at reasonable pressure and
head loss.
' Replacement of the service taps and lines should improve the water quality by
reducing the potential for lead to enter the system and possibly increase the pressure
by providing a clean service pipe.
The proposed water system improvements are shown on Figure 3 in Appendix A.
' 4.3 Storm Sewer
The proposed storm sewer improvements include replacing existing 36-inch (36")
storm sewer on Wilson Street from 291 Avenue NE to 30'Avenue NE with 48-inch
(48") storm sewer at a lower elevation to accommodate the outlet for the future
' stormwater pond.
The existing 15-inch(15")storm sewer on 30'Avenue NE will be reconstructed with
' new 18-inch(18")to 27-inch(27")storm sewer at lower elevation to provide outlet
from future pond north of 30'Avenue NE. The existing 18-inch(18")storm sewer
on West Armour Terrace will be replaced with 15-inch(15")and 21-inch(21")storm
' sewer at lower elevation to provide a storm sewer outlet from a low area north of
West Armour Terrace.
' City of St.Anthony-2001 Street&Utility Improvement Project
Feasibility Report
' WSB Project No.1065-511
Page 5
M
