44
Apparatus: Upon entering into this agreement, we would want to take over all St.Anthony
apparatus and equipment for the life of the contract(3 years). If the contract is not renewed the
apparatus and equipment would be returned to the City of St.Anthony.
After studying the number of runs and geographical layout of St. Anthony, I propose a contract
of$400,000 per year fora period of three years totaling$1,200,000. At the end of three years,
we would re-evaluate the program and renegotiate a contract for another three years. I believe
there are only two things that will increase the cost of the renegotiated contract:
a) increased number of runs
b) increased salaries due to new labor contracts.
I do not believe that either of these items would cause more than a 4 to 5% increase in the
contract, but would have to be determined when renewing the contract with St.Anthony.
The rigs that will be the primary response units in St.Anthony are Engine 15 and Ladder 7.
These two rigs would have conspicuous signage clearly identifying the apparatus as a joint
effort response unit for Minneapolis and St.Anthony.
St.Anthony would also be a part of our annual literature drop campaign, covering 50% of the
City of St.Anthony in one year, and the other 50%the next year. We would also provide fire
education for all high rise and senior citizen complexes. We will conduct familiarization and
code compliance inspections on all commercial buildings. We believe that these fire prevention
activities have reduced the number and severity of fires in Minneapolis, and will have the same
benefit for the City of St.Anthony.
If there are any issues or questions not covered above, please feel free to call Fire Chief Rocco
Forte. He is willing to go to any type of meeting or forum to discuss this proposal.
