AN`IH0fiY <br /> PIANNING BOARD MINUITES <br /> March 18,1975 <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Letourneau at 7:35 P.M. <br /> The following were present for roll call: Cowan, Hiebel, Marks". Letourneau, <br /> E Rymarchick and Johnson. <br /> Absent: Mr. Bowerman <br /> Also Present: Harry Lekson <br /> The minutes of the February 18, 1975 meeting were amended to correct the spelling <br /> of Mr. Dahlgren's name as well as' Mr. Finess' first name from "Dale" to "Del". <br /> Mr. Cowan also questioned whether he had seconded the motion to approve the <br /> January 21st Board minutes. <br /> Motion by Mr. Marks, seconded by Mr. Hiebel to approve the February 18th minutes <br /> as amended. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The Board then considered the application by i•ir.. Wm. Flaherty for a variance to <br /> a the zoning ordinance of 5 feet to the lot line to allow him to build a swimming <br /> pool on his property at 3208 RankLn -Road. <br /> E' Mr. Flaherty was rresent and discussed with t4ie group the letter from Rev. Paul <br /> Stohlberg, ?200 Ranl:in Road, indicating trere eras no oi_Uositior. fron, Saleri <br /> Covenant Church who own the property to- the sough of the proposed construction. <br /> He indicated the house on the adjacent property :could be 45 feet away from the <br /> pool and the vacant property situated between was not likely to be built upon. <br /> Motion by Mr. Marks, seconded by Mr. Cowan to recommend to the Council that they <br /> set a public hearing on granting a variance of five feet to 's. Flaherty to <br /> enable him to build a swimming pool at 3203 Rankin. Road. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Cowan was requested to suggest to the Council that the public hearing on the <br /> i proposal could be held and their decision on it could be made at the same time so <br /> ji that Mr. Flaherty could start work on the structure as soon as the weather permit- <br />; I ted. <br /> 1 Several members of the Board expressed the opinion that the time table for hearing <br /> requests for conditional use permits and variances could be speeded up by schedul- <br /> ing a public hearing upon receiving the application and thus avoiding what some- <br /> times turns out to be a delay of two months before a definite decision is made. <br /> Other members were concerned that such a procedure might force them to "make un <br /> I' <br /> informed decisions. <br /> j_ The Board agreed that they wanted to be able to consider methods by which the <br /> time table and procedures for considering such requests could be streamlined and <br /> requested that Mr. Fornell and Mr. Lekson research possible changes in that <br /> F section of the City ordinances dealing with variances and report back their <br /> recommendations at the next Board meeting. <br /> Mr. Johnson expressed his appreciation of the thoroughness of the Flaherty <br /> proposal and suggested use of the new application form to provide the Foard <br />
