-3-
Mr. Childs and Chief Hickerson met with .a Mr. White from Magnum
Research , Inc. who wants to open a weapon importing operation to be
located in half of the Gottwalt building. This business sells
weapons to distributors only , however, they are licensed to sell to
individuals . They will need several types of permits to open , i .e . ,
occupancy , building, etc.
Mr. Childs and Chief Hickerson will be meeting with District #282
officials on Monday to discuss juvenile discipline responsibilities
of the respective organization..
Lee Entner indicated the City will need to review the ordinance on
living requirements (boundaries) for fire personnel . It seems a
question arose concerning this matter when it was found one of the
applicants for the firefighter vacancy lived outside ::)oundaries which
are required for the Reserves. It was felt this would have to be a
future change , as the hiring process is now in full swing under the
regulations of the present ordinance. He also said he had read
Hennepin County ' s report on communications , finding there would be
no charges . He stated .most of the report pertained to police
matters .
Mr. Childs inquired whether anyone present had items for the Com-
munity Services ' Newsletter. Larry Hamer mentioned the dangers of
parking cars on .the right-of-way . Residents should pull their
vehicles into their driveways or risk getting hit by a plow.
• Mr. Childs concluded -with the following three items :
(.l) The memo from Investigator Engstrom, which outlined his activities
on .a forgery investigation and also requested a commendation be
given to Scott Anderson , who had taken the license number of a
vehicle whose occupants forged a check at the St . Anthony
National Bank ' s branch on Pentagon .
(2) The newly-formed Gavel Club has requested that a City representa-
tive attend their monthly meetings . Ron Berg will attend the
first meeting and the Department Heads will .then alternate
attendance at future meetings . The Gavel Club represents agencies
and organizations that serve the District #282 community .
(3) He has spoken with Moundsview and other suburbs concerning sharing
equipment. A discussion ensued on developing a "barter system"
with neighboring municipalities for equipment and personnel
needs .
The meeting adjourned at .11 : 30 A.M.
cjk
